Right, ,my first trip of 2010 - i tried to find somewhere yesterday but failed.

So the Upper Severn, still high, a milky colour and damn cold....

The fishing wasnt easy, far from it, but i still caught, landing 6 Grayling and a Trouty type thing? Possibly Sea Trout kelt.

All came to pink bugs!

Some pics

First of the decade for me

Unfortunately there were non of those suicidal grayling that I need, no takes for me. Mind you the sun in your eyes all day doesn't help does it!
The photo doesn't show how silver that fish was on the underside does it.

Brownie - for mine, although it was around 110 miles up river!

Good to see them in the Taff Spence.

Hi Paul,

I imagine there was a huge relief on finally managing to find somewhere to get in the water for a few hours and catching some Grayling was a welcome bonus.

It really has been a frustrating xmas break with even the River Irfon struggling to get to a fishable level.

Had a really weird day today catching a total of 20 fish...ALL TROUT!!!(and all over 10") from runs where only a couple of days earlier i'd been catching Grayling. All fish were in superb condition.

I can only put it down to the fact that the level had dropped a good 12" and the Grayling had moved on elsewhere but I couldn't find them anywhere. I moved away from the trout to another known Grayling section to try and latch in to a couple...but no joy.

Thats winter fishing for you!

Sabsman.

I always have left the covering on my rods for years and I still have some rods with it still on and in great condition.
It's a habit I had when I saved up all of my money in a gallon whiskey bottle when I was a kid.
The rod was an Abu Atlantic spinning rod which still have and landed my biggest Taff Sewin of 7 pounds on it.
All the best for 2010.

A Broonie?

A Broonie?

Well done on the Grayling Paul.:)

For what it's worth I'd say it's a Brown Trout.

A very successfull begining to 2010 ;) good stuff, no chance of me getting anywhere in the next week or so, just had another dollop of the white stuff on top of the already packed ice, so thats the Eden out :( getting bloody sick of it now.

Brownie for me,
