The thinking was a big, bright fly with a single hook for a fining down spate. Specifically when there are fish of around the 1lb mark about meaning that all but one would probably go back.
I also wanted it to swim with the hook upwards to prevent snagging.
The main body is the shank from a heavy sea hook and gives enough weight to ensure it fishes at the desired depth.
