I had a trip to the Aberbwtran beat of the Irfon today (Beat R11 on the Wye and Usk voucher scheme).

It's a lovely beat - access is a bit of a walk from the layby where you park but it's well worth a visit.

Today, however, I was beaten by the conditions. I had a nice grayling from the spot I took the photo from and a brownie a few yards further down - but then the weather! The wind made casting anything from a challenge to an impossibility and also filled the river with leaves to such an extent that every cast resulted in being fouled. After four more small grayling - I came home!

Hi Paul,

As you say a bit of a walk, fished it last season, took some lovely grayling on the dry.

Very restrictive fishing with some water coming through, when it drops you still need some casting and wading skils downsream :)

Bill :)
