You won't regret buying Marc Petitjean tools Andy; Yes, they are expensive, but beautifully made and a pleasure to use. I bought the bobbin holder last year and it is unbelievably easy to thread up and adjust the tension. I also bought a pair of tungsten carbide scissors and spent rather a lot at Funky flytying on tungsten beads.
Had some furled leaders made up to my own spec. they make a world of difference to your casting..
There's not much point in going unless you are going to spend some money!

Hope to see you next year..

I went down with 3 other from our club, we split up & met up again at certain times. I would have spent more money but I thought a lot of the stuff were over priced IMO. I took 300 with me but only spent 100, most of the gear was nearly RRP robbing gets. I know they'll have to pay a fair bit of rent & staff, cost of getting their gear there, plus digs. I think if you keep the price down you'll sell an hell of a lot more gear, than if you stick the prices up IMO.
But I have to say I really enjoyed the day out.
The best thing for me was chatting to the guys that were promoting fishing in Ireland, it really got me thinking about booking a week over there, I just need to get a few of my mates interested in going with me.

I'd agree, there was some stuff that was RRP only, but there was a lot of other stuff that was cheaper, I was finding tungsten beads for 4 a packet of 20, whereas in a shop recently I found similar for a fiver for 10..... There was a range of fly tying gear you'd not expect to see in most tackle shops and really good deals on basics like thread and tinsel, cock pheasant tails (dyed).... I did buy two fly patches you can't get anymore, and I got a tenner off a single handed Spey line by asking..
