I've just bought a (used) Hardy Shadow 10'0" #7 as a second rod for Towy sea trout. It is described a medium/tip action. I'll be rigging for skating flies at night. Does anyone own this spec? And will it be 'happy' with a #8 line or might it get ratty? BTW my main rod is an old SP and that's fine when over-lined. Grateful for any prior knowledge chaps.

Hi farside. I have just bought the same rod, and wondered how you are getting on with it. Are you pleased with it? Have you overlined it with an #8? Garry Evans have the on offer, so I couldn't resist! Best. Paul

Try the Mike Barrio Lines
7wt Mallard Floater & the light tan sinktip.

My Hardy Mk1 Gem 10ft 7wt although a lot older than your rods is over gunned with an 8wt.It is a soft mid tip.
