Just been up the Clywedog for a walk, WOW the waterfall in Bontychel is frozen and the river is frozen right accross in several places. Never seen that before. The Clwyd is the same above Ruthin.

Any sign of any redds?

I spoke to a landowner today from Scotland, One of the Scottish River boards had taken a number of Salmon from a trib on his land, and placed them into ponds for bringing on.

However the cold snap froze the ponds solid and killed the broodstock, at least in most rivers the movement keeps the water moving and protects the fish.

Hope the Clwyd and Elwy fish are ok

havn't seen any sign of redds or salmon as yet. Been up and down the Clywedog a couple of times in the last couple of weeks and seen nothing yet.

Never seen the river like this though. Will take a camera tomorrow and try and get a couple of pics!
