Hope this website will regain its former popularity now that Proboards Forum seems to have gone up in smoke.

What we need is more input off everyone whether you had blanks whilst fishing just post all fishing, wildlife, country, flies, methods all of it etc.

STPB seemed to be on a long spiral, hardly any fishing a lot of politics regarding the Towy which does have a place.

Petty-mindedness & personal issues, even one-upmanship became an everyday issue with some "select" members which, in turn, led to it's inevitable demise. I think most had forgotten how to go out, do a bit of fishing & enjoy themselves.

Strange, I thought I had replied to this thread yesterday but it appears not to have stuck!
Anyway, I've washed up here again after a very long hiatus as it seems it is now the only remaining Seatrout forum. My season on the Tywi has been shocking. I have not had many trips, maybe 8 or 10 due to work and river level. On those trips I caught no fish, saw no fish and did not have a take other than small trout. It seems sadly to me that the Tywi is in a catastrophic decline, I shall renew my two tickets, CAAA and Llandeilo, but much more in hope than expectation.

I continue to travel to catch decent sized silvery things, having just got back from Steelhead & Coho fishing in BC - very nice. What they consider a very poor run on the Skeena would be an absolute bounty on any British river.

Your right Weatherman they seem to have lost the way to fish and relax. We all want the rivers to be clean and with great runs of fish, but as you said there's times to sit and relax and enjoy the sport that we enjoy.

Simon any pictures of the trips.

I dropped my CAAA ticket this year as I have a rod on the Lower Usk,not been a good season compared to last year.

Don't lose heart! I don't know about the Tywi, but I think everywhere has been dreadful this year, because of the long drought. Hopefully it will mean lots of fish will have run through late in the season and will spawn.

Was only able to go out twice after recent spate . Didn't touch anything or see anything. If they're running late then they should have come on that spate.?

Agree with Morphfly. I fished some excellent fly and spinning water on the Towy in August and September without a touch or sight of any moving fish.

Anyone who still thinks the Towy is a premier seatrout river is only kidding themselves. Interesting that Golden Grove are now attempting to advertise themselves as a Salmon water via Trout and Salmon.

After fishing the Towy since I was 8 years old, sad to say I think enough is enough and I will be giving it a miss for a couple of seasons. Good luck to anyone who sticks with it but for me I can't justify the time or money.
