    Hello All
The season is opening on the Tywi today so tight lines all.
There has been some issues with the permits going out. The 125year pin badge which was sent out with this seasons ticket appears to have pushed the price of postage up! Apologies for this, so if you have had an unexpected note from the Post Office, i'm really sorry its probably your Llandeilo Permit.
    Cheers
    Aled

I had my first outing of the season last night, more in hope than expectation. I just fished the first 2 hours of darkness. Nothing seen but two respectable and feisty brownies gave me palpitations when I momentarily thought I was in to my first sewin of the year. It feels very early but the river looks in fine fettle. Lovely to be back out there.

Also had my first 400 mile round trip to the river last week and the earliest I’ve ever managed. FULL MOON Thursday night but hooked a big fish at 11.30. I couldn't do a thing with it and had it on for about 5 minutes when the hook pulled. One of those long range catch and release experiences. The air was blue! (Perhaps it might have held on if I had used a treble.) Had another one of those ‘on and off’ a bit later and packed up at 12.30 as got cold. Friday night at 9.30 my mate had a cracking silver fish with a tail like a spade, probably double figure. He said it was the hardest fighting sewin he’s ever caught. It swam off well after a bit of coaxing. We packed up at 1.30 after each having a couple more pulls, so there is already the odd fish about.

I was fishing at Llangadog. I also saw a car parked on the back road at Llandovery AA water so maybe they have also reached up there.

The algae is back in places (localised so far) . Hopefully the farmers play ball this year and do not spread when the rain comes (we can all live in hope...).

Fantastic to be out on the river again last week though, nothing to report but am feeling strangely optimistic after last year (can’t be as bad etc etc).

Tight lines all - be great if the doom and gloom doesn’t infect us all again this season.

does anybody fish the gwilli much and is it productive early on? never explored it much and just wondering if the pools are to small to hold fish so early in the season?
