Had a really enjoyable few hours on a free stretch of Pendle water at Barrowford. Since the Trust made the fish passes the stock of Grayling that are spawning there is just a lovely thing. My spider was being grabbed just about every cast but hitting the takes another thing. Some lovely wild trout and big one lost. High point seeing a large silver eel at my feet

Good to hear Andy👍
well done.
It used to be good in Padiham on the Calder for trout & the grayling stocks are on the increase.
I bet there’s a few sea trout up & down as well.
I‘m yet to get any at night for the past 2 seasons on the Ribble - they just don’t seem to be there in the numbers they used to be anymore.
I managed a decent salmon yesterday evening off the Ribble & a decent brownie.

Yea I hear you and I have followed you on salmon forum. My cousin who catches double figure barbel on Ribble sent me a Facebook salmon and sea trout report page but I wonder if there is any point to it.

I mean I know you won’t mind me saying this but every salmon picture I been shown on Ribble for past two years has all been coloured fish taken long after there best and I read your post about not hearing or seeing any sea trout and I know you were winkling em out when they were there pal.

Same on the Dwyfor this year during my usual first two weeks of July. The fish simply wasn’t there but for the last two days when I think I did well to hook and lose one and miss a take. I never wanted it to be easy but counting missed takes isn’t my idea of fun.
They all but extinct both species are supposed to run in their thousands
