I went out Saturday to chirk and newbridge but it was Pretty coloured by the time I got there and didn’t touch anything

went yesterday to Corwen and the river was fine-I saw a couple of salmon when I arrived about 8am but that was it,
I got 2 ST a Grayling and about 10+ brownies on the spinner, everything but a Salmon

Try again tomorrow but I might be being optimistic given the weather!

I went out Tuesday above the bridge at Corwen-didn’t last long the river was almost in the fields (1080 and rising)
So I went over to the Conwy in the end and I got 3 small ST-worryingly I didn’t see a salmon the whole time I was there and the water was perfect!

I went yesterday to Carrog-spinning 🙃
I got 4 ST,best was 5-5.5lb (others were all around 1lb
2 Grayling and countless brownies up to a 1lb but no salmon-I believe there was 5 caught from the town waters though just above where I was,the water was perfect yesterday on the Dee even for the Fly

I can’t go today as I’m working but I’ll try and go tomorrow and Monday

good luck if anyone’s out

That's a lovely sea trout Tim, well done. You've put the effort in and had a decent season.

The Conwy seems to have gone a bit quiet for salmon. Not surprising really, as they had quite a few summer floods to move the salmon in.

well done, I was thinking about spinning Sunday but wasn't sure if water would be too coloured serves me right for not going and seeing it for myself hopefully get out this week :)

Well by sheer fluke/luck I finally got a salmon today(spinning)-I dropped the little one off at school and thought I’d go for a couple of hours to Chirk-

I got 3 ST as well,2 were 3/4lb odd and really silver and one was around 1 1/4lb and starting to colour up and a bit thin looking!

It’s been very kind to me the Dee the last few weeks for a change,I’ll be out the next few days so I’ll let you all know any success or otherwise but the waters perfect now-even lower down

good luck 🎣

Was great to meet you too John,I stayed till just after 7,I got a couple of brownies after you left but that was it. Think we got the only 2 Salmon on the beat!

Good luck on the Brenig tomorrow

Hopefully see you on the river again before the end of the season

Well I gave it another go last night up around Carrog area-first cast i got a decent grayling, but that was it,I had a few plucks at my fly and then I tried a surface lure and had something small splash at it but it just didn’t get dark last night at all,it was a full moon and then it started blowing a gale so I gave up around 11ish

Hopefully we get some rain now and we can focus on salmon fishing-has been a couple caught lower down the river

good luck if anyone’s out 🎣
I have a friend from Wrecham who is a PA member and he said the Dee has been very low on fish this year. Quite the opposite of the Mawddach that has been stuffed with fish

Managed to get my first salmon in 8 years today it’s been a long wait but worth it! Saw a few fish move in the AM but then the river went deadly quite after mid day. Nice grilse of 6lb, not to coloured either!
Well done. I didnt see any fish moving on Thursday, but I didn't arrive until midday.

Rob Redman has caught some beauties from his local rivers this season, around Dolgellau.
Had my name down for Prince Albert for a few years and when they finally replied offering a membership I was going through a bad health thing and so passed on. Having heard great reports from there I’m regretting I passed up. Whatever reason the Mawddach and Wnion have really bucked the trend this year

So,I spent Sunday fishing Corwen town waters, chain pool and bonwm farm without even touching a fish
Monday I spent on the town waters, chain, carrog,Berwyn and it wasn’t till I got to Chirk at 17:30 I even got a fish which was a small ST
Tuesday I spent all day on the junction for 1 ST that was black and about 1 1/2lb and a couple of brownies

I went after taking my little girl to school this morning to Chirk and within 45 mins I’d had a tagged ST that was about 1/2lb which came in on 9/7/25
Then I got a cock salmon about 11lb odd (give or take)
And then I got a bright silver ST about 2lb but the bloody thing jumped out my hand before I could take a photo of it-I was shocked how silver it was!

it’s been a very difficult few days, everyone I’ve spoken to is struggling, the only fish I’ve seen is the one I caught.

I know of 2 caught above Corwen since Sunday but that’s it.

Good luck if anyone’s out tomorrow-
