Sounds like yous had a good day pal.

Fishing with your grandson. ✅
Seeing fish. ✅
Putting some of your dads ashes on the water.✅

A fish would've been the icing on the cake, especially for Heath. It'll come, there's always next time.

Well Tote and guys my grandson Heath done it.
He fished hard on Monday learning to fish the prawn with no results.

So I picked him and his brother up from school and back on the Usk this afternoon.
3rd trot down float under and was in to his first salmon.

11 pound cock fish he couldn't believe the fight.
And it where we put my dad's ashes to in the river 🥲

Big tides today but still no takers.
Season been very poor.

Very few fish,I wonder what NRW response will be to low numbers on Usk and Wye when the season finishes 🙄
I can see one of the NRW’s reports from a couple of years ago coming to the surface: the one suggesting the banning of salmon fishing. With all their political correctness and their need to show their masters they have matters fully in hand, I can see NRW’s pen pushers putting this forward as THE solution :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. The problem is that this will leave the rivers open to poaching which will have a far worse effect on the fish, than if salmon angling is allowed to continue :mad::mad:.

With the Wye too big for fly anywhere in any of the fisheries I have access too (NRW rules, fly only on the Wye from 1st September:mad:), I had a morning on the Usk which was falling fast after the first reasonable spate since spring. The result was this hen fish which gave a spirited scrap before coming to the net. 9 lbs 4 ozs nicely hooked in the scissors; she went back strongly. At least that saves the blushes of a blank season :).
