I’ve been out a couple of times since Friday to various stretches of the Dee and the Conwy Thursday night-was a few fish showing on the Conwy.
Other than a couple of pulls I’ve had no luck so far
A friend of mine had one at Llangollen Friday night and a couple of friends had one and lost a couple up around Corwen Sunday night.

I’ll try again tonight up at Corwen.

Good to see you Tim
I lost one on the sink tip after you left and then had a nice one on a surface muddler
It’s been pretty reasonable for the sea trout on the Dee so far this year
Hope tonight produces for you
Great to see you too 👍🎣
No joy last night, the river was very quiet
I fished every inch of it,I even waded down the whole long straight right to the bottom
Of the beat.(it’s easier to do that actually then get in where I said) (just gets deep for a little bit but it’s mostly just knee height, then I got out where I got in the night before, fished a bit below that then waded back up to get out)
I got a decent grayling on a surface lure(half way down) and 3 splashes at it(all from similar place as night before)but I only saw 1 fish jump the whole night and I stayed till 2!

Should really have the night off tonight…….

Just got back from the Dee above Corwen,I saw 3 really decent fish as it got dark then absolutely nothing until I left around 00:30,only thing I hooked was a tree on the far bank and lost my favourite surface lure in it,even my usual good spot didn’t seem to have any life in it tonight 🙄
Tomorrow’s another night so I’ll try again a bit lower down, they must be somewhere.

I didn’t go Monday night in the end
Went out last night, kind of last minute to just above carrog but below the chain pool.
The river was dead, slight breeze, but cooler than Sunday night but not cold.
No joy to normal flies and I tried a couple
Put on a surface lure and by some miracle I got one about 4.5.lb,was a hell of a fish, really coloured though so it had been in a while
I missed a couple of others before and after it
Left about 01:15

I’ll go again later and maybe tomorrow

So against my better judgement I went again last night-the river had risen to 560 from 530,that’s a lot of release water-it must be more than usual to be keeping it at 530 as it is-but I’m no expert on this controversial topic shall we say so I’ll shut up about it 😅

Anyway I fished above the bridge at Corwen on a “prime” beat I was booked on!
Fished all the main pools,1 I fished through 3x with no luck with various different size flies.
In the end I stuck on my trusty surface lure, the main pool if you like, was dead
Decided to wade down the long straight which was hairy at best! Nothing was interested in it at all, towards the bottom end of the beat though I did get a small ST on for seconds and then 2 other small fish go for it and miss but it was really hard work-then I lost my lure in a tree on the far bank and I only had smaller ones on me-I gave up about 01:15
I did see 1 really big fish jump above me but might have been a salmon but this was around midnight so I’m not sure.
River was definitely colder last night compared to previous nights but like previous nights it was also dead
I’ll probably leave it till Sunday now, rains due next week so might be the end of night fishing very soon if it rises too much and stays high but we’ll see.
Good luck if anyone’s out,I’ll post again after my next trip 👍👍

I went last night to same place at Corwen-was short lived really,it got really misty by 11:00-I stuck it out till 12ish then came home
There was a few small fishing showing as it got dark around 9 but that was it.
I can’t go again till later on in the week and the weather looks all over the place,so have to see what the rain does.
Good luck if anyone’s out tonight 👍

So I ended up going last night 🙄 got a few things on today and work all day tomorrow but I thought I’d soldier on.
Went to the same beat and pool I got the fish from last week, the river was dead.
Fished with a sink tip and then tried every size surface lure I’ve got-managed one small fish splashing at it around midnight. I left not long after!
I think once it’s rained and freshened the river up there might be a good night or two left yet 🤞
Good luck if anyone’s out
I’ll be out again Thursday 🎣

I spent last Saturday on a working party removing willow, fished Sunday evening with a 5wt. Plenty of grayling and dace but never saw a sea trout or salmon anywhere. At least it's raining today.

I was out last out night above the bridge at Corwen,
I got 3 small ones about 1lb at best,I lost/missed several others all on a surface lure,I did hear a few big fish jumping above me
Then the river just went dead,I stuck it out till about 01:30 then left

Well I gave it another go last night up around Carrog area-first cast i got a decent grayling, but that was it,I had a few plucks at my fly and then I tried a surface lure and had something small splash at it but it just didn’t get dark last night at all,it was a full moon and then it started blowing a gale so I gave up around 11ish

Hopefully we get some rain now and we can focus on salmon fishing-has been a couple caught lower down the river

good luck if anyone’s out 🎣
